Upgrade archived databases

IMPORTANT! To successfully perform the database upgrade, you will need approximately 2.5 times the ION_Data size of free hard disk space. SQL Server relies heavily on tempdb to upgrade the old data set into the new system. Therefore, tempdb must also have plenty of free hard disk space; to be safe, it should be close to the size of ION_Data. For larger systems, tempdb should be on a different drive than ION_Data. If you do not have enough free hard disk space, the database upgrade will fail. Make sure the new system has at least four times the size of the PME databases in free hard disk space to allow for: backups, disk usage during the database upgrade process, and increase in the database size after the upgrade.

Use the Database Manager tool in PME to upgrade the archive databases. Since the system is not yet functional, you cannot start PME Management Console to access the Database Manager. To open this tool, start DatabaseManager.exe from the …\Schneider Electric\Power Monitoring Expert\system\bin folder.

Distributed System Note: Complete these steps on the Application Server.

Note: Upgrading large databases is a time consuming process. Expect this to take approximately one hour for each 15GB of database size. Also, the disk space required for the upgrade can be as much as 4 times the size of the original database. Make sure there is sufficient disk space for this upgrade.

To upgrade the archived database:

  1. In Database Manager, select Upgrade Databases.

  2. Select the data archive for upgrade.
